The University is pleased to announce a new research partnership between our Social + Interactive Media (SIM) Centre and The Next Big Thing, an accelerator for young entrepreneurs by HootSuite Founder and CEO, Ryan Holmes, and Executive Director, Meredith Powell.

The Next Big Thing is for “independent thinkers with cool, disruptive ideas” between 18-23 years of age who will be selected to work for 6 months on site at HootSuite headquarters, receiving no-strings attached grant funding, mentorship from a network of investors, founders and advisors, and hands-on personalized learning from entrepreneurs and partners such as Emily Carr.

This is an exciting opportunity for the University to engage with this groundbreaking initiative and we are thrilled that the SIM Centre will be able to help articulate the value of applied design research to innovation and entrepreneurship.
